Zaid Hamid Exposes the Shady Past of General Durrani (Retd.) by Putting His Controversial Book,The Spy Chronicles: RAW, ISI and the Illusion of Peace,in Perspective

Former ISI Chief, from August 1990 till March 1992, Asad Durrani, who recently published a controversial book, The Spy Chronicles: RAW, ISI and the Illusion of Peace, co-authored with India’s ex-spy chief AS Dulat, attracted immense attention from all walks of life: national institutions, media, scholars and intellectuals.

Zaid Hamid, author and a veteran of Soviet-Afghan war, and at the moment national security analyst & founding consultant BrassTacks The Advanced Threat Analysis Think Tank, took to social media to unclothe former ISI Chief, Assad Durrani,  and his latent motives to malign the image of Pakistan and to support the corrupt political mafia.

Hamid’s pro-Pakistan stance is not hidden from anyone: neither his scathing criticism of the hypocrites who try to smear the image of Pakistan nor his pro-army stance.

He made some of the very valid point in his tweets regarding Durrani’s intent as a writer. Its very important for an author to get paid for his book. However, the book, The Spy Chronicles: RAW, ISI and the Illusion of Peace, released on Wednesday, is easily available on social media.  Durrani’s purpose is not to live off this book but some other objectives are in sight.

Hamid’s book, From Indus to Oxus, rendered an exposé on the shady past of General (r.) Durrani. According to General Hameed Gul (late), Durranni worked for American agencies, Hamid tweeted.

The above-mentioned pages of his book and tweets also reveal that General (retd.) Durrani is also convicted of heavy-funding in 1990s election of the disqualified Nawaz Sharif to make him win. According to Hamid, Durrani shares close affinities with Nawaz Sharif and his family, and this book is in congruity with Sharif’s present anti-Pakistan narrative.
