Motorbikes will be distributed among 300 females at Al Hamra Hall on Sunday as part of the Women on Wheels (WOW) project,
These women have been trained in driving skills and, after receiving their vehicles, they will ride them in the form of a group on the Mall Road.
Aided by the Bank of Punjab and the Transport Department, the WOW project was initiated by the Punjab Strategic Reforms Unit (SRU) and at least 3,500 women have been trained to ride a motorbike under this project in Punjab.
WoW project, an initiative of SRU, is as a way to empower marginalized women in Punjab and to enhance their independence and mobility.
The Provincial Development Forum (PDF) of the Planning and Development Department (PDD) provided Rs.80 million for the WOW project, according to Salman Sufi, the architect of the project.
