Two women apprehended for allegedly attacking private TV channel office
Karachi, August 25, (Online): Law enforcement agencies have carried out search operation and apprehended two women from Lines area for allegedly attacking private TV channel office.
Sources said that both were affiliated with a political party and were identified through CCTV footage.
Prior, violent protesters broke in ARY News office in the Saddar area of the metropolis, which resulted in confrontation between police and the angry mob. One person was killed and several injured in the incident.
According to Police “MQM workers pelted stones at police officials and the ARY office”, adding that they also resorted to aerial firing outside the office.
The ARY office is located in a busy part of the metropolis, above the popular Zainab Market. Traffic came to a standstill due to the violent protests and all roads leading towards Governor House were sealed.
A Samaa DSNG van was also attacked. Additionally, a police van and motorcycle of a traffic police official were reportedly set on fire on that day.
Eyewitnesses at the Karachi Press Club said Rangers personnel searched the MQM camp in the area and arrested workers of the political party. Rangers also recovered arms and ammunition besides anti-state literature from the MQM camp office.
