Wajid Zia Turns in the JIT Report (volume 1 & 9) and Records Statement in Corruption Charges Against Dar
Wajid Zia, recorded his statement in Accountability Court-I of Mohammad Bashir, today at 11: 30am, and submitted the Panama-case Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report (volume 1 and 9). Zia, Additional Director FIA, presented before the accountability court for the corruption chronicles of the former finance minister, Ishaq Dar, Zia reported to the court of the investigation which was carried out to examine the assets of Dar. He reported that Dar’s assets were declared to be Rs.9.1 million referring to his wealth statement in 1991, and presented more figures with the relevant discrepancy.
He is the main prosecution witness in Dar’s financial corruption case. Dar is accused by the NAB for possessing assets beyond his means and known income.
According to a national daily, Zia submitted volume one and nine of the Panama case JIT report and recorded his statement. Worth noticing here that the NAB prosecutor, during today’s hearing, updated the court of the news regarding the travel of former prime minister, Nawaz Sharif.
Sharif, former prime minister, who is subject to three corruption cases in Panama case in NAB, is rumored to be travelling abroad in the next few days. His frequent travels abroad is delaying the accountability and judicial process.
The court indicated to expedite the judicial process with reference to the ongoing corruption cases.
Zia was made the head of JIT team on May 5, 2017, to probe into the allegation of panama corruption charges with reference to the former prime minister, Nawaz Sharif.
