UAE police officer facing charges over posting video of Messi’s passport

DUBAI: United Arab Emirate’s police officer has appeared in the court over holding Barcelona Star Lionel Messi’s passport.

On Tuesday, the police officer appeared in Dubai’s Court of Misdemeanors over the posting the video to the mobile phone app Snap chat in December, Abu Dhabi’s state run The National newspaper reported.

Barcelona and star player Lionel Messi triumphed at the seventh edition of the Globe Soccer Awards here earlier, taking home the prizes for best team and best player.

Only the Spanish Super Cup eluded them with a loss to Athletic Bilbao.

Belgian coach Marc Wilmots was named best manager while Benfica took the award for best club academy.

Italy’s Andrea Pirlo and England’s Frank Lampard were lauded for their long careers.

Lionel Messi deposed eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo to take back his crown as the undisputed king of world football by lifting a record fifth Ballon d’Or on Monday.
