QUETTA: On Monday, two policemen were killed by suspected militants in Quetta’s Sariab road area.
“Armed assailants opened fire at a police check post in Bibi Nanai area of Sariab road,” according to a police official.
Both the policemen were killed as one of them was killed on the spot whereas the other policeman surrendered to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital for a post mortem.
“The assailants escaped from the scene of the incident,” statement by another police officer
Police officials and Frontier Corps personnel reached the site of the assault and commenced a research in to the unfortunate incident.
As for now, no group or party has taken the claim and responsibility for the attack. According to the police sources, they believe that the incident was an act of target killing.
It has been more than a decade now that Balochistan has been experiencing incident violence and targeted killings. Balochistan is the largest province of the country if area is considered. Considering the low population of the province, it is also hub to a low-level rebellion by ethnic Baloch separatists.
Taking a look back at history it can be assumed that Al Qaeda-linked militants also operated in the region.
