The Top Twitter Trend Today is #ArrestMusharraf. As it is known that Anti-terrorism court (ATC) has released Former President of Pakistan and Chief of Army Staff (retd) Pervez Musharraf in the murder case of Baloch tribal and Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) leader Nawab Akbar Bugti.

The court accepted the petition which includeD three accused personnel named former interior minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, former home minister of Balochistan Mir Shoaib Nowsherwani and former Pervez Musharraf in the Baloch leader’s murders.

Musharraf ordered a military operation in year 2006, in which Nawab Akbar Bugti, former chief minister of Balochistan and head of his tribe, was killed along with his 26 comrades. Musharraf had constituted a federal team headed by Mushahid Hussain Syed, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Makhdoom Amin Faheem (late) in March 2005 that took out verious meetings with Akbar Bugti.

Bugti focused and launched a campaign regarding the rights of Balochistan which included provincial autonomy and increase in the profit spans of the province from their own resources as they believed they were deprived of their own rights.

Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti, son of the Baloch leader, had named Musharraf and other former ministers in the murder of his father.

In December 2015, Jamil Bugti revealed that Musharraf had sent an apology through his lawyer and urged to accept the murder of Akbar Bugti as God’s will, “Our stance is clear,We won’t accept anyone’s apology regarding Nawab Bugti’s murder.”

However, Pervez Musharraf rejected the claim saying he had never sent any apology to any one.

It is to be noted that Musharraf was also accused in the assassination of former chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Benazir Bhutto.
