Threshing machine dispute; two shot dead, three injured in Sindh

HYDERABAD: Two peasants were killed and three got injured in a dispute reported in Hyderabad, Sindh among the peasants and the farm’s manager (Munshi). 

The saddening incident occurred on Wednesday in Jamshoro, during night in Malik Qaiser Khan Village, while the farms belonged to the MPA of Pakistan Peoples Party, Mr. Imtiaz Sheikh.

35-year-old Allah Dino Maachi and 33-year-old Punhal Maachi were shot and died on the spot. Two women, Guddi Maachi and Soomri Maachi, and another man, Aarib Maachi, were injured due to the gunshots, according to the SHO Khalid Abbassi.

The injured person Aarabi had been admitted to Liaquat University Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU). His condition had been described critical, due to the head shot. While another injured identified as Guddi was the wife of Allah Dino, whereas, Aarabi was the brother of Punhal.

A protest was held at the Indus Highway along with the dead bodies by the relatives of the deceased. They accused the farm manager, Muhib Sheikh, and his armed men for the attack.

One of the protestors, Mohammed Hassan Maachi claimed that Sheikh had attacked the deceased and injured in their village along with ten heavily armed men. The village was at a distance of about one kilometer from the farms.

The affected peasants were working temporarily at the MPA’s farms for the wheat harvest. The clashes among both the parties were over using the threshing machine.

After the incident, Sheikh and his accomplices fled from the spot. Teams have been formed to raid their residences in Shikarpur and Khairpur to arrest the accused persons.
