The real reason behind Afridi’s resignation

After spending two prosperous seasons of Pakistan Super League with Peshawar Zalmi, all-rounder Shahid Afridi has announced to leave the Zalmi.

Afridi in his twitter message announced that he left the PSL team Zalmi due to his personal reasons and also hinted to join another team.

This is not the first time that Shahid Afridi stated or hinted to leave Zalmi. Earlier, in 2016 he also hinted that he would leave Zalmi. The reason at that time was the row between him and franchise owner Javed Afridi.

During an interview he stated: “I am a professional cricketer and whichever franchise needs me I am available for it. It is not that I am confined to Peshawar Zalmi only.” He added: “No doubt that my current team is Zalmi but before moving forward I need to sort out some things with Javed Afridi.”

According to our sources, though Afridi remained along with the team for over half year after the interview, however, the row still has not been solved thoroughly.

They even told that the Sammy captaincy added fuel to the fire and Afridi was not happy when he handed over the captaincy to Darren Sammy. And as soon as it was being solely confirmed that a new team is going to emerge in upcoming PSL matches, the third edition, Afridi finally announced to leave the team.

It was being told that Afridi is in contact with new franchise’s owner and is expected to be the team captain of the new team.

Afridi is a jealous sort of person who never accepted some one as captain; following the same reason he was angered over Darren Sammy’s captaincy and took the decision as he was in contact with other franchise’s owners. May be you do not agree to it but remember the time when he showed his jealousy of Srafraz who became the leader of T-2-0 team.

Upto the time of filing this story, Shahid Afridi is in full attempt to became the captain of new PSL team for the next edition.
