The art of body building has been around for centuries. Back in ancient times, those with beautiful bodies and muscles were regarded as gods and goddesses, or at least the offspring of them.
In the 19th century, body building became an accepted art form thanks to Eugen Sandow, who is considered to be the father of modern body building. In the 1950’s and 1960’s body building exploded in popularity with competitions like Mr. Universe and Mr. America.
Body building is still a respected practice today, with hundreds of competitions taking place each year with numerous awards and accolades as prizes.
One of the most well-known body builders is Arnold Schwarzenegger, who eventually became a famous actor and even the governor of California.
