KOHAT: A hardcore terrorist was executed on Thursday in district jail Kohat who was involved in various heinous offenses including an attack on Bannu Jail.
According to military media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) the convict was tried by military courts and confessed his offenses before the magistrate and the trial court.
Tahir son of Mir Shah Jehan was an active member of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He was involved in attacking Bannu jail due to which number of terrorists managed to flee from the jail.
Tahir Shah was also involved in attacks on law enforcement agencies personnel which resulted in death of a soldier and wounds to another soldier.
In April 2016, the biggest prison-break incident in history of Pakistan occurred as a large group of militants stormed into Bannu jail and created way for 384 prisoners including militants to escape from the jail.
There was more than 150 armed persons which attacked the central prison. Militants had guns, grenades and rockets along with them who stormed into the jail.
A culprit behind attack on former president General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf also escaped in the incident.
