Suicide attacker kills four elderly in Afghanistan
Jalalabad: At least four people killed and seven other wounded as a suicide bomber attacked a meeting of elders in Afghanistan, the sources reported.
The incident happened in Afghanistan’s eastern province, Nangarhar, which is under the stronghold of Islamic State militants.
The meeting of elders had been called in order to settle a local dispute when the meeting struck by terrorists attack.
In addition to, spokesman for the governor of Nangarhar, Attaullah Khogyani informed that elders from Pachiragam district had gathered in Jalalabad city in order to resolve their local dispute but a suicide bomber attacked the gathering killing and injuring several people including elders.
An eye-witness who was injured in the assault informed that the bomber first opened fire and then detonated his explosives, causing many casualties. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
Gatherings of tribal elders are means of managing affairs in many parts of Afghanistan where government control is weak but they have been targeted by IS militants as it seeks to establish its own authority in eastern Afghanistan.
