A legend, Sridevi, who passed away on 24 February 2018 at the age of 54 with a cause of death being determined as accidental drowning was honoured at 90th Oscars. The ceremony was held at Dolby Theatre where hundreds of  stars walked the red-carpet.

Along with Sridevi, another legendary Indian actor, Shahshi Kapoor, was also given homage. Sridevi was laid to rest in Mumbai with millions speculating her alleged drowning.  Her ashes were immersed in the sea following the immolation according to the Hindu tradition.

Her second husband, Boney Kapoor, paid tribute to her late wife in a tweet on Sridevi’s twitter page in the following words:

Sridevi was one of the stars the Academy paid tribute to in their annual “In-Memoriam” section, which honours those in the movie industry who have passed away in the past or running year.

Along with Sridevi,Hollywood stars like Roger Moore, Harry Dean Stanton and Jonathan Demme were honoured. Jerry Lewis, Martin Landau, Jeanne Moreau and George Romero were also included in the memorial.

Oscars 2018 took a sad and somber turn as Tom Petty’s Room at the Top was performed by Eddie Vedder to remember the artistes who unfortunately passed away in 2017 and 2018.

Boney Kapoor along with his daughters Janhvi and Khushi bid a final farewell to Sridevi in Rameswaram funeral. The first female superstar’s sudden death in Dubai with multiple versions on record left millions speculating the cause of her death. Though officially determined by Dubai Forensic authorities as drowning in the bathtub, it leaves many questions unanswered.

Sridevi made a come back with English Vinglish in 2012, which did pretty well at the box-office, and her last release was MOM with Pakistani actors Sajal Aly and Adnan Siddiqui.
