Spain offers cooperation to Pakistan for promotion of tourism in the country
Islamabad: Spanish ambassador to Pakistan, Carlos Morales said that frequent interactions between private sectors of Sapain and Pakistan can play vital role to improve bilateral trade between the two countries.
Morales was addressing business community at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry; he said that after the grant of GSP Plus status to Pakistan by European Union, exports of Pakistan to Spain have increased. In first year exports improved by 44%, in second year by 24% but only 5% increase was seen in Pakistani exports during the third year.
Spanish ambassador during his address stated that Spain ranks second among most tourism attracting countries. Last year 750 million tourists visited Spain, which are almost double than total population of Spain.
Spanish ambassador offered Spain’s cooperation to Pakistan to promote tourism; he stated that “Pakistan can enhance its tourism by its improving its infrastructure; Spain can help Pakistan in this regard.”
Morales also asked Trade Development Authority of Pakistan to inform in advance about upcoming trade fairs and exhibitions to the Spain Embassy. He said that by advance provided information Spanish companies could be urged to participate in fairs.
During his speech he said that 120 thousand Pakistanis are living in Spain which can be used as bridge to improve bilateral trade relationships.
