Karachi: The investigation into the assassination of Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammad Aslam Khan alias Chaudhry Aslam revealed that his own driver cum security guard was involved in his murder.
Karachi’s iron man Chaudhry Aslam the SP of Crime Investigation Department (CID) was martyred in 2014 near Lyari Expressway in a terrorist attack by Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted in a vehicle.
According to police reports of that time, the explosion was so powerful that the vehicle wreckage was thrown 20 to 30 feet away from the explosion site.
During the initial investigation, suspects revealed that SP Aslam’s own security guard Muhammad Kamran was involved in attack, who in fact was affiliated with the banned sectarian outfit Ahle-Sunnat-Wal-Jamaat (AWSJ), ex-Sipah-e-Sahaba.
According to details, Kamran gave information about Aslam’s movement to his killers including Naeem Bukhari the chief of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) Karachi and to a police informant Imran Bhatti who was also affiliated with LeJ.
Suspects revealed that suicide bomber was called by Imran Bhatti from South Waziristan.
Four suspects including Qari Javed, Zafar Saeen, Wazir and Hasan alias Shah Jee were arrested on Sunday night during an encounter with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) from Mehran Town area of Korangi Karachi and their chief Dildar alias Chacha was killed. During interrogation, terrorists revealed important information about Chaudhry Aslam’s assassination.
Chaudhry Aslam survived several attacks on his life, including a suicide attack at his residence in September 2011 in which eight were killed. However, attack of January 2014 proved deadliest for him in which he could not survive and embraced martyrdom.
