Islamabad: Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada has criticized the government for neglecting sport and festivals in the country.
Speaking during the question-hour in the National Assembly on Friday, he said that the government was investing billions of rupees on construction of bridges at the cost of sport in the country. He said the provinces have imposed a ban on sport activities in the name of security.
The minister said sport and festivals were fading gradually in villages due to the prevailing law and order situation. He criticized provincial governments for their failure to advance sport activities and festivals.
Pirzada reiterated the resolve to take concrete steps for organizing next edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Pakistan.
Without mentioning name of any person, he said that people working at key posts in departments working under ministries were not ready to listen and they blatantly ignore directives.
When asked by PTI leader Shireen Mazari to resign if he (Pirzada) has not powers, the minister said he has been elected and will introduce professionals in all departments if he was vested with powers.
