Islamabad: In today’s hearing of Panama Case Maryam’s counsel, Shahid Hamid claimed that Signatures of Maryam Nawaz on Minerva Financial Services limited are fake.
The five-member apex bench of the Supreme Court was hearing set of petitions filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamat-e-Islami (JI) and Awami Muslim League (AML), seeking disqualification of Prime minister; the bench was presided by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa.
Shahid Hamid, Maryam Nawaz lawyer told the court that London flats do not belong to Maryam and she does not own any property outside Pakistan, Shahid Hamid was reading the written statement of Maryam Nawaz. The statement included that London Property belongs to Hussain Nawaz and he also admits it.
Shahid also stated in the court that if court thinks that flats belong to Maryam, still it is not of any importance as Maryam does not depend upon his father nor she holds any public office. But Justice Gulzar told him that it is of importance to public as Maryam is a daughter of PM and Justice Khosa told Shahid that Maryam is alleged of acting as her father’s front person. On which Shahid Hamid said that it is a job of petitioner to prove the allegation.
The question then come of Minerva Financial Services Limited, disclosed by German publisher. On this, Shahid Hamid told the court that signatures on the documents are fake on which Justice Ejaz said that experts can compare these and courts or judges do not have this ability.
Justice Gulzar noticed that signatures are different on the documents and court stated that the documents are leaked by ICIJ and it is impossible for parties to go to Panama and check signatures of Maryam Nawaz on each document.
