SHC orders to shutdown wine shops across Sindh

The Sindh High Court (SHC) gave orders to shut down all alcohol shops in the province until a proper mechanism for distribution is devised.

According to media sources, Sindh government ordered to devise ration-card like mechanism for distribution of alcohol. Court directed to formulate the procedure and submit report within thirty days.

During the proceeding, Chief Justice Sindh High Court said that government has specified five bottles for each member of minority community; however it permits every one to purchase drinks.

He also said that rich buy wine more than poor people and said: “In District South, 700 crates being sold. The poor Hindu of Thar does not get water to drink let alone buy wine.”

Bishop Khadim requested the court to due respect to minorities and ensure wine shops closure in Christian month of fasting.
