“Shahenshah-e-Qawwali” being remembered on 19th death anniversary

LAHORE: Nusrat Fatah Ali Khan, legendary qawwali maestro 19th death anniversary is being observed all over the world.

Late Nusrat Fatah Ali Khan was one of the famous Sufi singer in the world and traveled around the world for performance. Ustad Nusrat was born on October 13, 1948 in Faisalabad.

Nusrat Fatah Ali was popularly known as “Shahenshah-e-Qawwali”. Khan released more than 125 audio albums by creating world record.

He sung Dum mustt Qalandar mustt‚ Ali Maula Ali‚ Yeh Jo Halka Halka Suroor Hai‚ Mera Pia Ghar Aya and many others qawwalis.

Pride of Performance had also been awarded to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan for his best performance as a legendary singer in 1987.

He also received UNESCO Music Prize before two years of his death. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan died in London due to cardiac arrest on August 16‚ 1997.
