Lahore: Section 144 has been imposed in entire Punjab province by the provincial government in order to limit the impact of sit-in of Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaf (PTI) going to be held on November 2nd.
According to Section 144, no four or more people can get together at one particular place across the province ahead of planned march of PTI against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
The Section 144 has come into effect from Sunday night (30th October) and will remain valid till November 7.
According to a notification issued by the Home Department, violators of the ban would be dealt with strict actions.
Earlier, the federal government on Thursday imposed Section 144 with immediate effect banning political meetings, rallies and protests in Islamabad.
Moreover, according to a statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Interior, the ban in Islamabad will remain effective for at least two months.
After the imposition of Section 144, police in a crackdown on PTI youth convention in Islamabad on Thursday arrested over one hundred activists for violation of the rule.
