Search operation underway in Chitral PDMA KP

Peshawar (Online): On special request of Provincial Disaster management Authority Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the NDMA provided a helicopter to find seven dead bodies including 6 students, who lost their lives in avalanche incident in Karimabad.

Latif Ur Rehman Spokesperson, PDMA KP said that specialized search teams from Pakistan Army, Chitral scouts, Police and local administration are working jointly for search operation.

According to the district administration, massive avalanche of 30 meters fell on a group of 8 students when they were crossing a mountainous stream while returning to their village on Saturday after appearing in the matriculation examination.

They informed, PDMA, two died bodies were recovered however seven are still missing. Rescue teams were facing problems due to heavy snow and rain in the area. They said, snow and other debris have been removed.

Director General PDMA expresses his grief with the families over this sad incident and ensures that PDMA and provincial Government will assist them.
