Islamabad January 9 (Online): The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday ordered Healthcare Commission to look into the matter pertaining to provision of poor health facilities in public sector hospitals and submit report to the apex court within a month.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, conducted hearing of the case. Additional Attorney General Amir Rehman, Member Health Commission Dr Ajaml, and AJ Rahim Advocate appeared before the court.
Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar remarked the court had constituted a committee to probe into the matter whether the committee has completed its report. AJ Rahim Advocate informed the court the probe is in progress
Dr Ajmal said there are over 60,000 public hospitals and healthcare unites in across Punjab. The chief justice remarked a regularization procedure will be initiated, adding regularization is the only way forward in the hospitals.
Mian Saqib said the healthcare commission has been announced today. Justice Ijazul Ahsan remarked then there is no need of committee. Following the information, the court ordered Punjab healthcare commission to look into the matter.
The hearing has been adjourned till indefinite period.
