Rear Admiral Ather Mukhtar assumes office of Commander Karachi


KARACHI: Office of Commander Karachi has asumed by Rear Admiral Ather Mukhtar. A ceremony was held for this purpose at PNS Bahadur in Karachi.

According to the press release issued by the Pakistan Navy, command to the newly appointed commander was transferred by Rear Admiral Farrokh Ahmad.

The newly appointed commander will be the commander for all the training units of the Pakistan Navy in Karachi.

Rear Admiral Ather was appointed in the Operations Branch in 1984. H has distinguished and wide range command and staff experience. He was the Commanding Officer of Pakistan Navy Ship Mawin and Commander 9th Auxiliary & Mine Warfare Squadron during his career in Pakistan Navy.

The service experience of admiral Ather includes Commander North at Islamabad, Director General Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, Commandant PNS BAHADUR, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Training) and Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Admin) at Naval Headquarters.

Before Admiral Ather, Rear Admiral Farrukh Ahmad served as Deputy Chief of Naval Staff at Islamabad. Rear Admiral Ather is a graduate of Pakistan Naval War College, Lahore and National Defense University Islamabad. Admiral was also bejeweled with Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military), for his prestigious services.

Guard of Honor and introduction of the commanding officers was also given to the newly appointed commander, during the changing ceremony. A large number of Pakistan Navy Officers and sailors had participated in the ceremony.
