Rao Anwar Appears in Supreme Court

By Anahita Zurvan

Suspended Malir SSP, Rao Anwar, absconded in the Naqeebullah Mehsud killing case, has appeared in the Supreme Court after writing direct missives to CJP regarding his case and security threats. He was accompanied by anti-terrorist squad and was brought to court under heavy security and protocol in a white car. Anwar was wearing a face mask when entered the apex court.

FIRs were registered against him in many cases, but primarily he was under trial in Naqeebullah Mehsud’s case.

Anwar, suspended from his post of Malir SSP, has been bushing out in the murder case of Mehsud, a 27-year-old native of Waziristan, who, among three others, was killed in a staged police encounter in Karachi on January 13, on Anwar’s orders.

This is a developing story and is being updated as reports come in.
