Punjab University prohibits student organizations to hold events

Lahore: The University of the Punjab on Friday has imposed ban on all student organizations from arranging any sort of event.

The university has also took another decision to install biometric verification systems in its hostels. It was stated that students would not allow to enter into hostel after 10 pm.

The ban decision was being taken after the recent clash between two student organizations,IJT and PSF, on holding function.

The clash initiated by raising slogans which later turned into brawl when students attacked each other with batons. Students groups also pelted stones which injured at least eighteen students beside two policemen.

The police was called there to control the situation; however, students still remain engaged in stone throwing. Police used tear gas shelling and aerial firing to disperse students and search operation was also conducted in the hostels.

A case has been launched against arrested students and several unknown persons at Muslim Town police station.
