Lahore: A clash between two student groups again erupted in Punjab University on Monday when the university reopened after four days closure following earlier clash.
According to details, the clash was erupted in Sociology Department of the university when one of the student organisations, forcibly forbade the student of another organization to take examination.
The police was called at the spot to control the situation to avoid any major quarrel and loss.
The examination was cancelled after the clash as reported by the university’s representative.
The university reopened today after remaining closed for four days following a clash between two student organizations. Several students got injured in the clash beside two police personnel.
Only gate number one of the Punjab University was opened while all other entrances were closed, as reported. PU administration stated that the gate has been opened after taking necessary steps for the peaceful environment in the institute. Police was also appointed in premises of the institute to maintain and control peace and law and order situation in the campus.
Last week, clash erupted out in Punjab University which was initiated by raising slogans and later turned into brawl when students attacked each other with batons. Students groups also pelted stones which injured at least eighteen students beside two policemen.
An FIR was also registered against responsible elements whereas the administration also claimed that organizations were being banned to conduct any activity which could create unrest in the institution.
