DI Khan: Two student groups, Islami Jamiat-e-Talba (IJT) and Pakhtoon Students Federation (PSF), had a clash on Wednesday in Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan; security forces were summoned to control students.
According to details, Islami Jamiat-e-Talba (IJT) had planned to hold a talent show at the Gomal University, despite varsity’s instructions to cancel the event, the students of IJT followed their previous plan and moved ahead.
The event increased the anger of the Pakhtoon Students Federation (PSF) who were already holding protest against IJT who ruined their previous day event in Punjab University, Lahore.
Both student groups stood up against each other and turned the university into war place. Taking precautionary measures, the administration summoned the Pakistan Army, FC and Police on campus to maintain law and order.
However, the PSF students continued to impede the talent show until the police started baton charging to disperse students.
Students organizations again seem to be emerging as riot squads which disturb the educational environment of the institutions.
Yesterday, a clash between IJT and PSF in Punjab University left five students injured beside two policemen. Though police was called there, students still remain engaged in stone throwing. Police used tear gas shelling to disperse students and search operation was also conducted in the hostels.
