Islamabad: Close allies and federal ministers of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) have advised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to appoint new chief of army staff (COAS) within 48 hours in order to confine the functioning of establishment, a prominent lawyer claimed.
Sheikh Ahsan-ud-Din is a prominent lawyer of the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan and has been the spokesperson of former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary.
It is noteworthy here that General Raheel Sharif, named as best military commander general in the world for 2015 by ABC News Point, is due to retire on 29 November 2016.
According to Ahsan-ud-Din, the federal ministers and technocrats of the government have suggested to the premier that Supreme Court seems to pose a greater threat to the government as compared to the other institutions of the state.
Moreover, he claimed that the government would formulate its strategy after observing Supreme Court’s stance on November 1.
He revealed too that one of the closest allies of the prime minister suggested him to submit an application for the insularity of current chief justice from the bench keeping in mind the earlier expressions made by Anwar Zaheer Jamali.
The PM was advised to remain calm and avoid any type of encounter with the Supreme Court at this crucial situation, lawyer Ahsan-ud-Din added.
