Islamabad: Finance Minister Ishaque Dar has said that the federal government has decided to keep the petroleum products prices unchanged for next month.
He was addressing a news conference in Islamabad here on Monday evening.
He added that Premier Nawaz Sharif has rejected the summery submitted by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) for 3 to 15 percent increase in the petroleum products.
Moreover, the prime minister of Pakistan has directed OGRA for maintaining the prices to benefit the common people of the country, he asserted.
He informed no increase has been made in the petroleum prices since April this year.
IShaq Dar went on to say that the Finance Ministry would bear the extra burden of prices of petroleum products.
To a question about prevailing political situation in the country, the finance minister said the government had no objection on organizing peaceful protests, but PTI’s track record did not affirm this.
Answering another question, he said the government tried its best to evolve consensus on Terms of Reference (ToRs), but the opposition wanted them person specific.
