PEMRA fines TV channels for airing fake news of Gulberg blast


Lahore: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Friday directed private news channels to pay fine for issuing Gulberg Blast fake news.

According to the press release of media regulating authority it was decided in the meeting to impose Rs. 1,000,000 fine on national private television channels and Rs. 500,000 on regional TV channels.

PEMRA also directed all channels to air apology on March 6 regarding airing fake news; the apology text is also provided.
