Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq on Friday condemned brawl between PTI and PMLN legislators, which broke out yesterday.
While addressing a ceremony held earlier in the capital to inaugurate a monument, the speaker lamented: “Parliamentarians have their heads bowed down in shame over the incident.”
He questioned, “Whether we are here to scuffle or solve public’s problems,” adding, “we need to adopt policy of tolerance in the Parliament and every where else.”
The speaker emphasized, “Today, we must pledge to strengthen our democratic institutions.”
The memorial has been built in the lawn of the Parliament in remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives while upholding principles of democracy.
On Thursday, an argument during National Assembly session turned into brawl outside the hall as PTI’s Murad Saeed punched PMLN’s Javed Latif on his face. Reacting over it, Javed Latif passed vulgar remarks about Saeed’s female family members. The incident became talk of the town and was condemned from all corners.
