New Delhi: Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Choudhry held talks with Indian counterpart S Jaishankar in New Delhi on Tuesday.
This is the first high level contact between the two sides since the January 2 terror attack on Pathankot airbase.
According to details, the talks between the foreign secretaries came ahead of a meeting of the Heart of Asia.
Aizaz Chaudhry said Pakistan wants to take the Afghan peace and reconciliation process forward and resolve issues through negotiations.
Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry is leading the Pakistani delegation to the conference that will discuss the security situation and reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan.
Foreign Secretary said it is very much possible that both countries talk to each other and try to settle the issues on the sidelines of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process meeting in New Delhi.
He said Pakistan is sincere in its efforts to bring peace to the war-ravaged Afghanistan as peace in Afghanistan is vital for peace in the region.
He called on all parties and Afghan groups to come forward and work unitedly for peace in Afghanistan.
