Pakistan ready to discuss arms control and restraint measures with India: FO

Islamabad: Pakistan is ready to discuss arms control and restraint measures for peace and security of South Asia with India.

According to a statement released by Foreign Office spokesman Nafees Zakaria said that Pakistan had taken note of US President Barak Obama’s statement after Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) on Thursday.

President Obama after the NSS had called for seeing “progress in Pakistan and India, that subcontinent, making sure that as they develop military doctrines that they are not continually moving in the wrong direction.”

Describing as “significant event from Pakistan’s perspective in many ways” the outcome of the 4th Nuclear Security Summit in Washington, the Foreign Office spokesman told a briefing here that Pakistan received a broad appreciation at the summit over its steps taken for the security and safety of its nuclear weapons.
