TORKHAM: Pakistan Army Major Ali Jawad Changezi martyred after unprovoked firing of Afghan security forces at Torkham border crossing.
Major Ali Jawad Changezi was serving in Frontier Corp (FC) and was to retire in December 2016. He was from Pakistan Army armed corps of 82 PMA badge.
According to the details, Major Jawad Khan with five border security personnel got injured during intermittent clashes between Pakistan and Afghan security forces at Torkham border on Monday late night.
Meanwhile, 16 Pakistani civilians were also injured in the cross border firing by Afghan forces. The injured were shifted to local hospital for treatment, and the injured personnel were shifted to Landi Kotal Hospital.
The Afghan officials claimed that one Afghan soldier was killed and 6 were injured during the clash.
The firing broke out at Shamshad Mountain near the crossing point around 9pm on Sunday, and continued for nearly 12 hours.
Senior security officials visited the Torkham border early morning on Monday, but no meeting took place between the officials of both countries.
One Company of 9 Baloch was under intense fire exchange with Afghan National Army (ANA) at Torkham resulting injury of 17 soldiers.
Torkham is the most frequented crossing point at Pakistan-Afghan Border and has been used as a gateway by the terrorists.
In order to check movement of terrorists through Torkham, Pakistan is constructing a gate on own side of the border as a necessity to check unwanted and illegal movement.
Lt Gen Bajwa said the gate is 37 meters inside Pakistan, and it was considered essential to check and verify documentation of all border crossers with special regard to check terrorists moves.
