PAF pays tribute to Asghar khan; Risalpur academy named after him

RISALPUR: Pakistan Air Force Academy Risalpur has been named as PAF Academy Asghar Khan on Wednesday night.
He was the first native Commander-in-Chief of the Pakistan Air Force, who served under President Iskandar Mirza and Ayub Khan.
A ceremony was held in which Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshall Sohail Aman along with the former air chiefs, retired and serving higher officials of the PAF, and other dignitaries participated.
A spectacular parade performance by the cadets of Pakistan Air Force and a short documentary film on the career of Asghar Khan bloomed the event.
Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshall Sohail Aman paid rich tributes to Asghar Khan and hailed his career. He called him a man of integrity and esteemed qualities. Further he said that he was proud son of the motherland.
He added that personality of Asghar Khan would be a role model for the future generations, and the renaming the academy was tribute to the great person.
Asghar Khan had resigned in 1965 before being appointed as chairman of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). Later he started his political career under the flag of Tehreek-e-istqlal.
PAF academy is the premier institute for the cadets training which is situated in the town of Risalpur in Nowshera District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
