Nobel Laureate Dr. Abdul Salam’s cousin killed in Nankana


Nankana Sahib: Advocate Malik Saleem Latif, a local leader of Jamaat-e-Ahmadiya and cousin of Nobel Laureate Dr. Abdul Salam, was gunned down, Thursday morning, by an unidentified man in Nankana Sahib.

According to details, a person who belonged to minority group was killed by an armed man when he was on the way with his son Advocate Farhan. The incident took place near the Beriwala Chowk, Nankana Sahib.

No application for the First Information Report (FIR) has been received by police, till yet, sources reported.

Spokesperson of Jamaat-e-Ahmadiya told media sources that Latif was also Nobel Laureate Abdul Salam’s cousin. One of his sons is also a civil judge in Lahore.

The reason of the murder has not been revealed yet.

In 2014, a lawyer named Rashid Rahman was killed in Nankana Sahib, who was also an human rights activist.

Earlier this month a prominent lawyer Muhammad Jan Gigyani, who was also the member of  Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), was gunned down in Shabqadar, a small town in Charsadda tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).
