ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has almost selected the names for positions in team management as Mohsin Khan for the coach, Iqbal Qasim as the selector and Dean Jones are most likely to be given key roles, but it has revealed that Moin Khan is not in the list chosen members.
A PCB official said Board will be appointing a foreign coach for the national team in May and most likely the responsibility will be given to Islamabad United’s coach Dean Jones in PSL.
The PCB had assigned the job to former Test cricketers Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja to help in finding the coach for the national team.
According to reports Board already shortlisted a foreign and a local candidate.
The new coach’s first challenge will be the series against England starting in July.
The official also added that earlier former Pakistan player Aaqib Javed was also interested in the job but when he heard reports that PCB wanted to appoint a foreign coach then he decided to pull out.
Mohsin Hasan Khan was also keen in becoming the coach but the PCB had offered him the job of the chief selector.
But Mohsin recently had rejected the offer to become the chief selector of team as the PCB has decided to appoint him as the team manager.
The role of chief selector will be given to Iqbal Qasim.
Responding to a question, he said. Currently, former wicket-keeper and captain Moin Khan are not in PCB’s plans.
