“No-one involved in the scam should be spared,” says COAS

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has allowed National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to take proper action against retired military officers and civilians who are reportedly involved in the scandal pf worth Rs 62 billion in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Valley.

According to reports, one of the NAB officers reported that Pakistan Army chief had called on Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB in July last year and ensured him of full suppot of army for the accountability bureau in interrogating the big scam.

The NAB chief was also informed that General Raheel Sharif was determined that NAB should not spare any one’s involvement in the interrogation, even army officials should be investigated.

According to reports, The message Gen Sharif conveyed to the NAB chairman was that no-one involved in the scam should be spared and action should be taken, even if his own brothers are found to have links to the scam.

NAB recently started interrogation against brothers of former army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Bahria Town chief Malik Riaz as well as some DHA officials. NAB is also investigating the irregularities and corruption in the construction of the DHA Valley scheme that was meant for families of military personnel martyred obeying their duties. It was to be built on Punjab government land at Dadhocha Dam, near Rawat.
