Nation celebrating 70th I-Day with renewed pledges

With the 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in provincial capitals, the nation is celebrating the 70th independence day of Pakistan.

Graceful change of guards ceremonies were held at the mausoleums of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi and Allama Iqbal in Lahore. Special prayers were offered for peace and stability of Pakistan in the mosques.

The nation is celebrating the independence day of the country with renewed pledges of making Pakistan a terrorism and corruption-free country. The main ceremony of August 14 was held at the President House where President Mamnoon Hussain hoisted the national flag. Prime Minister Shahid Khaqaan Abbasi and Chinese Vice Prime Minister Wang Yang were also present on the occasion.

The Chinese vice prime minister has specially arrived on a two-day visit to participate in the 70th Independence Day celebrations of Pakistan.
