NADRA directed to present forensic report of remaining 26 polling stations
ISLAMABAD (Online): The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday directed National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to present the forensic report of remaining 26 polling stations of NA-110 rigging case.
The apex court has also ordered Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to find the missing record of three polling stations. A three-member bench of the SC presided over by Chief Justice (CJ) Anwar Zaheer Jamali took up the case for hearing Monday.
Secretary ECP Babar Yaqoob informed the court that missing record of 26 polling stations out of 29 has been found while ordered to inquiry the missing record has been issued. DG monitoring will present the report in this regard within one week, he added.
Rashdin Kasuri, Counsel of Khawaja Asif stated that our client is facing media trial. Babar Awan, the counsel for PTI candidate Usman Dar, said it seems that NADRA came to action to save minister.
CJ remarked that it is hoped that Interior Ministry may complete the verification process within one week. The Apex Court after hearing the arguments adjourned the hearing of the case till last week of July.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif was elected as MNA on PML-N’s ticket from NA-110 constituency of Sialkot in the 2013 general elections, but his rival candidate Usman Dar has challenged the result.
