National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to challenge the acquittal of former president and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in foreign assets case.
It is to be noted here that the accountability court acquitted Zardari in alleged foreign assets case on August 26.
According to sources, Zardari’s acquittal will be challenged in the Lahore High Court. Earlier, Zardari’s counsel Farooq H Naek pleaded that at least 300 pages of the reference are missing and punishment cannot be given on mere photocopies. Many witnesses were also not produced before the court.
Owing to lack of evidence, the accountability court had acquitted the former president on August 26, 2017.
