NAB gets forensic lab to fight corruption
Islamabad: Chairperson of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Qamar Zaman Chaudhary said that the NAB has set up its own forensic laboratory which would assist combating corruption. Qamar Zaman said this after reviewing the lab technology.
The NAB chairman said that forensic science lab bureau is equipped with digital forensics, fingerprint forensics and technology to review questionable documents.
The lab will assist retrieving documents from electronic devices such as cell phones, computers, iPads and digital networks”, he maintained.
Furthermore, he informed that the lab would inspect the source of questionable hand writing, identify typescripts and printed documents detecting copies to define interpolation, additions or overwriting and substitution of papers.
NAB chairperson Qamar Zaman Chaudhry asserted that investigation officials probing different high profile cases would be able to complete complaint verification with the help of this properly functioning forensic lab and inquiries and investigations would be done transparently and on merit.
Qamar added that the bureau has been communicating and coordinating with different governmental and non-governmental organizations and civil society in its fight against corruption.
He informed that with improved infrastructure and rationalized workload, a time limit of 10 months has been set to resolve cases.
