ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz media team unleashed its fury at Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan for the third consecutive day, accusing him of seeking an opportunity to spread anarchy and terror in the federal capital.
“When they came the last time in Islamabad, we allowed them to sit in Aabpara, but they violated the understanding and broke through police lines to enter the red zone and even occupied the Constitution Avenue,” Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary said.
He said that the government had been criticised at that time for not taking stern action against violators, but restraint was exercised on purpose.
“We had reports and the same were confirmed by then PTI president Javed Hashmi that Mr Imran Khan wanted to see some bodies on the ground during the sit-in and had police opened fire then we would have fallen into the trap set up by Mr Khan,” he said.
“We need to have a saner look at the situation; why are you seeking bodies of the people, your own workers, who else”? he asked.
Both Daniyal Aziz and Dr Chaudhry alleged that Mr Khan had a hidden agenda of spreading anarchy and creating disturbance.
The PML-N leaders said that Mr Khan had nothing to do with accountability and he only wanted to gain political benefit out of this issue, adding that the PTI chief was obsessed with greed for power.
“The ideology of the PTI chairman has now shifted away from politics to terrorism,” he said, adding that “we have reports that Mr Khan is now seeking the help of jihadists to overpower the system under the garb of PTI workers”.
He alleged that PTI workers were receiving training to use firearms and weapons were being distributed among them to block Islamabad with the help of “jihadi elements”.
He said that Islamabad was now facing a new form of terrorism and that was “Taliban Khan”.
Mr Aziz said that by taking notice of the matter, the Supreme Court had sent out a clear message. He said the PML-N and its leadership were ready to face the court since the start of the issue.
The PML-N leader demanded that Mr Khan and PTI leaders also present themselves for accountability over their offshore accounts and properties.
