MQM celebrates its foundation day without founder

Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQMP) is celebrating its foundation day, the 33rd, in Karachi on Saturday. It’s the first time ever that MQM’s foundation day celebrations are separated from its London based leadership.

The whole Jinnah ground is decorated with flags of the party and stage is also set for its supporters. MQM Pakistan had separated its ways from MQM London, leading by Altaf Hussain, due to the controversial and hate speech of Altaf Hussain against Pakistan on August 22.

Farooq Sattar the chief of MQM Pakistan has designated March 18 as the foundation day.

MQM had faced a larger scale abhor from public after the inflammatory speech by its founder Altaf Hussain. As well the party was being exposed to commit target killing and other criminal activities in Karachi, which increased the hatred level against it.

On Friday night, Sattar was taken into custody while returning from a wedding ceremony, but later was released after brief detention.

Non bailable arrest warrants still persist against several MQM Pakisatn’s leaders including its chief Farooq Sattar.
