MQM asks for a meeting with COAS General Raheel Sharif

KARACHI:  The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has required an assembly with Army Chief General Raheel Sharif to deliver him indication of the intimidations their frontrunners and MPs are getting to link the new party led by dissenting Mustafa Kamal.

“We appeal to army chief to intervene, play his role and end the game being played with us,” advised MQM Convener Nadeem Nusrat during a press conference in Karachi through video link from London on Monday.

“Our parliamentarians, chairmen and vice chairmen, union councillors and town in-charges are getting threatening calls from known and unknown numbers,” he said. He alleged that some elements from agencies were involved in pressurising MQM members. “Around 99.9% of people have rejected this ‘dry-cleaning factory’ set up on Khayaban-e-Sehar while parliamentarians are being forced to join through threats,” he added.

Throughout the press briefing, the MQM leader not only excluded all the claims but also blamed the recently shaped group of spending the provision of obscure force for generating burden on the workforces and frontrunners to change their devotions.

The decision-making body head of MQM, Nadeem Nusrat, suggesting at former Karachi Mayor Mustafa Kamal, said those thrown out of the party over their participation in china cutting, corruption and other illegal activities were steamrolling untrue claims against Muttahida.

“Those who have joined dissenters led by Mustafa Kamal and others were also threatened of dire consequences and the MQM is keeping full record of calls from secret or open numbers. The MQM leadership is ready to produce these records of proofs to COAS Raheel Sharif,” said Nusrat, asking the army chief to meet his party`s delegation at any appropriate time.“MQM chief Altaf Hussain recently took out a mammoth rally in support of the armed forces of Pakistan, but he has been sidelined under a plot and is being called as an agent of the enemy country’s spy agency, RAW,” he deplored.
