Martyred Colonel Sohail Abid Laid to Rest with full Military Honours

Colonel Sohail Abid of Military Intelligence (MI), who was martyred during intense exchange of fire with militants during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Killi Almas area of Balochistan, has been laid to rest with full military honour.

Earlier, Col Abid’s body was sent from Quetta to his native Chak-91/WB village in Vehari where funeral prayer of Colonel Sohail Abid of Military Intelligence, was held. Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and a large number of senior military officers, soldiers and relatives of the martyred soldier attended the funeral prayer.

Colonel Abid embraced martyrdom during an operation in Balochistan. The intelligence-based operation conducted by the security forces in Killi Almas, Balochistan, on the pointation from an under custody terrorist about presence of suicide bombers along with other terrorists in hideouts in the area.

 ‘I am proud of my son’

The father of the Martyred Sohail Abid, while speaking to media, remarked that he is proud of his son for sacrificing his life for the country.

While his brother remarked due to the sacrifice of his brother, his country, his district and his family head is being held high,”

‘When a soldier sacrifices his life I lose part flesh of my body’

COAS said in his message, “When a soldier sacrifices his life I lose part flesh of my body, that night is always difficult to pass.” He added “But we remain fully determined to sacrifice anything and everything for the defence of our motherland”.

Col Abid has left behind his wife and four children.
