The teaser poster for ‘Manikarnika’ has been released today with its trailer.
The poster shows a bloody Kangana Ranaut as the ‘Queen of Jhansi’ storming down the battlefield. This is the third poster to be revealed all showcasing similar visuals.
The trailer itself, with a voiceover from legendary Amitabh Bachchan, is laden with poor VFX. The battle scenes look shoddy as India has already showcased far superior technology by Sanjay leela Bhansali in ‘Padmavaat’ and Ashutosh Gowarikar in ‘Jodha Akbar’.
One can see from the teaser that the film traces the life of the famous warrior from her youth into motherhood and of course, her prowess on the battlefield. The trailer does have some lovely shots away from the battefield but the war scenes does bring the impact down. The trailer only has Kangana though and a few shots with other characters would have been welcome.
‘Manikarnika’ is a troubled project, attempting to showcase the life of Rani Lakshmibai. When filming was reported to have been completed under the direction of renowned director Krish, news emerged that it had restarted. This time Kangana herself, unhappy with certain portions of the film, had decided to make this extravaganza her maiden venture and stepped into the director’s shoes. Sonu Sood, a seasoned actor left the film in the midst of a public war of words followed by Swati Semwal. The makers had to replace both actors and re shoot their scenes.
Two extra songs have also been added as they race against time to finish shooting ahead of its scheduled release on January 25th 2019.
