Lollywood Remembers Rangeela on 13th Death Anniversary

Lollywood remembers the death anniversary of Lollywood comic legend, Mohammad Saeed Khan on 24th May.

He was born on January 1, 1937 in Parachinar, Kurram Agency. He more more popularly known as Rangeela.

At  his young age, he came to Lahore and earned his livelihood by painting billboards for the Pakistani film industry.

His work is closely linked with the ‘Golden days” of the film industry. He has been considered as one of the greatest stars of Lollywood in the 70’s. He was also a prominent producer, writer, director and actor. Rangeela passionately acted in nearly 200 Lollywood films.

According to film actress Shiba Butt  that Rangeela not only showed the talent in the field of comedy but he was one of the best in every other aspect of the film industry. Rangeela not only won awards for comedy but also won many awards in  fields of singing, directing, producing and writing.

According to film director, Altaf Hussain Currently there is no one like Rangeela in Lollywood. He was a simple man but was enriched with God gifted talent. Rangeela in the industry ruled for about four decades as he showed great talent in acting, writing or producing.”

The legend actor made his way into the film industry of Pakistan with a small comic role in the 1958 Punjabi film Jatti. He also performed in hit movies of such as Rangeela, Dosti, Insaan Aur Gadha, Dia Aur Tufaan, Zidi, Dil Aur Dunya, Kubra Aashiq.

He passed away on May 24, 2005, Actress Durdana Rahman said “The memories I have of Rangeela are still very fresh in my mind, even though it has been such a long time since he passed,”

She also said when I listen to Ga Mere Manwa Gata Ja Refrom Diya Aur Toufaan, I see Rangeela face as he sang it himself. The time that Rangeela was in the industry was definitely the golden time of Lollywood.
