Laraib Atta; A Young Visual Effects Artist Accomplishing Success in Hollywood

Daughter of Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi

She started her career at a young age of 19. No Pakistani has worked as a visual effects artist in Hollywood. She has made her breakthrough as the first one in the history of Pakistan. She had her career started in 2006. Her filmography contains blockbusters such as The Chronicles of Narnia, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Godzilla, Gravity, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and Prince Caspian, 10,000 BC and Johnny Depp’s Sweeney Todd.

All of these movies had brilliant effects and action sequences. All of these movies were based on effects and to know that Laraib was part of it, is a proud moment for Pakistan as well as her family. Lariab said in an Internet with BBC Asian network;

“The first time I watched Toy Story, it really inspired me. I was like ‘Wow, how is this done’?”
She further added;

“I didn’t know back then that I was going to get into visual effects.  But that something related to art was in me all this time and technology is what I wanted to do.”

In her TEDx Talks speech, she said that her parents were very strict as majority Pakistani parents are and she was not allowed to go out or socialize with friends, but when it came to her career, they allowed her to follow her dreams and not stop.

Her latest project was with Tom Cruise i.e Mission Impossible: Fallout. The young lady has inspired thousands of Pakistani women out there. We hope that she continues to make big achievements in the future.
