Karachi: At least three persons including a police man and a court official were injured when a hand grenade went off within the anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi on Monday.
The blast took place while Police officials were presenting weapons, explosives and a hand grenade that was recovered from an alleged suspect before the court when the hand grenade suddenly went off.
The case hearing was underway in courtroom-III.
Two policemen and a court clerk were among injured and taken to a nearby hospital for first aid. Court’s proceeding was briefly suspended as a result.
According to media reports, it was a locally developed bomb which was brought to the courtroom by Investigation Officer as case property. The bomb was, reportedly, not defused before production in the court.
It is pertinent to mention here that bomb was produced as evidence in the case of a suspect who was arrested a year ago.
